David H. Jacobs Foundation

The David H. Jacobs Foundation has been established to honor, support and provide supplemental funding for in-home hospice care for active Seattle Fire Department Uniformed Personnel who are in the late stages of a terminal cancer illness.

Prematurely graying at 32, Dave was nicknamed “Dad” by the other recruits in his 1983 class.  His 26 year career with The Seattle Fire Department was beginning to pump through his veins.  He loved his fire fighting family.  With them, he built his career based on listening, good leadership, compassion, common sense, and truth.

At age 58 on November 8th, 2009, Battalion Chief David H. Jacobs lost his battle with esophageal cancer, but his legacy lives on with the foundation to support and provide assistance through life’s final crisis.
