Seattle\u2019s Bravest Charity (SBC) was created in March 1995 following the deaths of four Seattle Firefighters, Lt. Walter Kilgore, Lt. Greg Shoemaker, Firefighter Randy Terlicker, and Firefighter James Brown, who perished fighting the Mary Pang arson warehouse fire.  Due to overwhelming generosity of the community, over $500,000 was donated to care for the families of the fallen.<\/p>\n

Originally known as Seattle Firefighter\u2019s Benevolent Association, our core mission has been to support firefighters and their families in their time of need, the Puget Sound community after experiencing a  tragedy or disaster, other local non-profits, and managing the following funds; a yearly scholarship fund for the children and grandchildren of Seattle Firefighters, a Catastrophic Fund that helps Seattle Firefighters who have been injured on the job and will never return to work, and the Dave Jacobs Hospice fund which helps Seattle Firefighters pay for hospice care from a non-occupational terminal cancer. <\/p>\n

SBC also maintains the Seattle Fire Department memorial in Occidental Park and supports the Seattle Fire Department Chaplaincy program, the Walter Kilgore Seattle Firefighters Honor Guard, and the Seattle Firefighters Pipes and Drum band. <\/p>\n
